All-Star Game

Hey Everyone,

So as most of you already know, I have been recently selected to represent the Altoona Curve in the 2009 Eastern League All-Star game in Trenton, New Jersey.  Joining me from our team will be Jason Delaney and Brian Friday.  It is very exciting news and I am really pumped about it.  It is definitely an honor to be an all star at any level, and I think that this will be a great experience.

Well on to last night’s game.  It was a pretty tough game all around.  We really just didn’t play a very good game, and I think that is the best way to put it.  Just one of those games that you want to forget about as soon as possible and move on.  One thing that I can take away from it was that I noticed that I was flying open in my delivery.  It is a pretty easy fix, but its something that I will have to work on in the bullpen.

Well thats all for today, until later everyone take care.

Congrats on being selected for the All-Star game! And good luck with your pitching; I’m sure it will all come together! Stay healthy and Happy 4th of July!

Congratulations on your selection! Let’s hope that this is a sign of your coming to the Pirates soon and being a great MLB pitcher some day.

Daniel, Congrats on being selected for the All-Start game!

Congrats! As everyone said, you’ve definitely earned the honor of taking the field with the league’s best on the 15th. I’ll see you there…I actually got tix wayyy back in February, but they’re SRO now, so there should be a really good crowd. I’ll make sure to pass along any good pics I wind up taking :-)

Good win! Were you able to work on the body flying open?
so, after asking if there was a way to listen to games, I had the radio on 970AM the next day and lo and behold, the Curve game was on! So for all you fans in the home city, you can follow along on the radio!
As for the All-Star game, do you ever get to know people on any of the other teams? I guess you’d only really be able to know people from your college days or something. Hopefully it’s a good chance to get to know some of the other talent in the minors.

Hey Dan,

Nice start yesterday. I’m planning on making a trip to Altoona on Thursday to watch your team play, but I guess you won’t be pitching.

Maybe I’ll spot you in the dugout and attempt to get your autograph.

See you then!

Oh, I forgot to ask, I was watching David Price a while back and noticed he covers his mouth and appears to yell into his glove. I’ve noticed other guys do the same, so I’m curious to know what they are saying.

Of course, don’t tell me anything that would get you in trouble. I have a feeling it’s one of those “Kenny Powers” quotes like “Your ****** out!”

Congrats Moskie on not only another quality start but in getting the W for it as well!

GJS, I know that there are enough lip readers out there that the precaution of talking into gloves is quite warranted. That’s not to say it’s not “your ****** out” being said, lol.

I meant after the 3rd out is recorded, and they are heading to the dugout.

He did it after this strikeout:

Thank you everyone for all the congratualtions, you guys have been great fans so far this year. Its been really awesome with the blog so far.

Scp- I will see you there. Feel free to stop by if you see me there, it will be nice to put a face with a name. And of course any photos that you can pass on will be much appreciated.

False Account- My mechanics were a little better this time out, but still have work to do. We do get to know some of the other players from other teams. For me its usually other starting pitchers that are sitting in the stands with me. We have alot in common as we are in the same situation.

Gjs- First of all thats awesome that you quoted Kenny Powers. I love that show, I think it is absolutely hilarious. Unfortunately, the reason for the glove covering the mouth is usually to shout an obscenity. Its not the best thing in the world to do, but we aren’t perfect. And when you care about your job you can get pretty upset from time to time.

hey, we met before your last start in trenton, so you’ve already seen my face…haha. but they’re opening the gates like 5 hrs before game time, so i’m sure i’ll run into you again at some point. -Stacey
