Day Off

Hey Everyone,

I enjoyed a nice day off today. The weather was beautiful and I actually had the chance to lay out at the pool for a couple of hours.  It was very nice, unfortunately we do not have another off day until August.

This week I purchased an iphone, and it is probably the coolest thing that I have ever bought for myself.  The app store has got to be one of the best inventions that I have come across.  There is literally an app for everything you could possibly want.  I couldn’t be happier with the new phone.

I also saw the movie the Hangover this week, and it was one of the top 5 funniest movies I have ever seen.  I laughed for 2 hours straight, it was an awesome movie.  Anybody who has not seen it yet, I would reccomend going to see it as soon as possible.

As most Pirate fans already know, we have had some promotions, and have some new faces in Altoona.  Brad Lincoln and Hector Giminez were promoted to Indy, and Dustin Moelleken, Mike Dubee, and Pedro Alvarez were promoted to Altoona.  I am excited about the new teammates, and really excited to get to see Pedro play everyday.  He is also a really good guy and a great teammate.

Now onto the U.S. Open, even though I was pulling for Phil today, given the whole situation that he and his family are dealing with, I have to say that I was excited to see a Clemson Alum win the tourney.

Well alright guys, thats all I have for today.  We head to Erie for s quick  3 game road trip, and I throw on Friday when we get back into town.  I am gonna go finish watching this insane college world series game.  Its been a great game so far.  Everyone take care.

Dan, I agree with you on the iPhone, what an invention. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for no rain outs til at least next Thursday, because I will be in attendance next Wednesday for your start at Reading. Gotta get a glimpse into the Bucs future with You, Pedro, Tabat, Gorkys, Friday, and Negrych.

Does it change things in the locker room having someone who is obviously such a big part of the future on the team?

  3. Daniel Moskos

Julia- Thank you for the good luck, I will try to send some good weather your way. I will keep my fingers crossed though because our weather has been beautiful this past week.

Aso- I am right there with you. I hope the nice weather continues, and I will see you in Reading. Our team is starting to look pretty good.

Shamtown- That is a great question, but honestly no it doesn’t. Also don’t forget that we had Brad Lincoln in our clubhouse, who is a huge part of the Pirates future. However, both he and Alvarez are great teammates and even better people, so it completely takes away from that intimidation aspect.

Diamond dust thank you for your support, and everybody else who has given their support for the all-star game, as well as support so far this year. The fans have been great, so thanks everyone.

Nice start in Altoona tonight, Daniel… 7 SO in 7 1/3 innings. Keep up the good work – you should be in Indianapolis in no time. Oh, and tell Pedro Alvarez I say hey. PS I strongly suggest you get a Twitter. I feel like you’re the twittering type.

Nice game tonight. It was really impressive. It seems like every start you make convinces me, more and more, that you will be a good MLB pitcher.

I have a couple questions for you:

1- Have you ever intentionally beaned someone? If so, what was your reasoning?

2- How would “The Hangover” rate against Tommy Boy, or Dumb and Dumber? Is it as funny as those 2?

    Thanks for blogging!

Way to go, Danny, on your quality start! You are getting better all the time, and soon should join Brad Lincoln in Indy.

Would be a done deal if I were running the club.

  7. Daniel Moskos

Burgh Blues- Thanks man, it was definitely a good start. I will let Pedro know that you said hi. What is this twitter all about. I don’t really know anything about it.

Thank you gjs, I am glad that I can continue to convince fans about my ability. As far as intentionally hitting people I would have to tell you that it has happened. I can’t really tell you why any particulaer one has happened, just that it is part of baseball, and the situation dictates why it might happen.

Thank you Brian, I would love to join him up there, but in the mean time I am going to continue to try to get better as a pitcher and get people out here in Altoona.

    Hey Daniel,

Although I’m not a Twitter person (Twitter-er? Tweeter? haha), I’ll try to explain it.
I guess it would be considered “microblogging.” It’s kind of like a blog, but each entry is really short…140 characters or fewer. You can post from a computer or cell phone. As far as what ppl write, it’s pretty much anything goes. A lot of it tends to be random updates about the person’s daily life. Users range from everyday people to celebs to businesses, etc. Here’s a couple examples from MiLB, but you can find lots of people if you look: Disco Hayes (since everyone loves his blog): Shelley Duncan (AAA yankees):
Aside from your main blog page, you can choose people to “follow,” and their posts (“tweets”) appear on your feed page. Probably similar to the status feeds on Facebook. You can reply to what other ppl write, or send messages to other users. That’s what the @username before a post means. Well, that’s about all I know about it…haha. Hope it helped. As I said, you can probably get a better idea by looking at some of the pages.
