The Season Is Here

Hey everyone,

Today was the last day of spring training.  It has been a pretty long month and a half. This spring training is the first time that I experienced the loss of friends. It was different, and tough, nobody likes to see friends go.

Anyways, tomorrow I leave for Altoona, where I will be one of the 5 in the starting rotation.  I am very excited, and can’t wait for the season to start.

I also had my last outing of the spring today. The line was 4 IP 4 H 1 ER 2 BB 4 K.  I think that it was a very productive spring, today I kept the ball down well, and my change up was really effective.  Most of the damage came in the first inning again, where I lacked rhythm and command.

Well everyone, this is my last spring training post, I hope everyone is looking forward to the spring as much as I am.  Next post will be from Altoona.

Until later,

As March Madness ends, the true Moskie Madness begins and I can’t wait, just wondering if you’ll be at the fan meet and greet this Tuesday at Blair County Ballpark? By the way, that stadium may be the nicest in all the minors, you’ll enjoy it.

I am glad to see that you have made the Altoona roster. Living in in Indiana, PA, 60 miles from the ballpark in Altoona (and 60 miles from PNC Park) I get to Curve games on a regular basis.

I was up in State College and saw you pitch in your first game in the pros. I even have some digital photos of that game.

I am looking forward to seeing you pitch this season.

    Good luck,

Dan, all the Pirate fans are behind you and wish you 100% of the best luck possible.

Sounds like you’ve had a good spring.

IMHO, you’re headed for the Pirates most improved minor league pitcher award after the season.

Lots of guys ahead of you at AAA, but just show ’em your best in AA and you’ll be on your way.

Good luck and congrats on starting out with the Curve!

It’s a great day to be alive, the start of the baseball season. I hope to get out to Altoona to see a few games this year, maybe I’ll get out to see one or two of your starts. Again good luck!

Julia- Glad to have an avid follower. I will keep you updated as the season goes on.

Aso- It is sad to see the basketball season end, but I couldn’t be more excited about the start of the baseball season. Altoona’s field is very nice, and I am very glad to call it home. I will be there on Tuesday for the meet and greet. Will I see you tthere?

Roundrock- Thank you for the good luck. Glad you don’t have to pull against your favorite team.

Dlancaster- That is very cool, hope you get to see a bunch of games this year as well. That is pretty cool about my first game, if you bring the photos to a game, I will have to sign them for you.

Salem Pirate- Thanks for the good luck wishes. I look forward to the opportunity that I have in AA. I can’t worry about who is ahead of me, I have to just go out there and pitch. I learned alot last season, and alot more this spring. It has been a successful spring because of all the knowledge I have been able to accumulate.

Shamtown- Thanks for the good luck. Hope you get to make it out for a game or two. It is a great time of the year, gotta love baseball season.

Bucs aren’t on tv, so I believe I will be attending fan fest. I go to school in the area and live at this complex named Nittany Pointe, I heard that some of the players lived in the apartments over the summer, is this true?

Hey Moskie! I don’t know if you read a lot of what is put on the sports pages, as I know it can be an unnecessary distraction at times, but there is an awesome writeup about the prospect-rich 24-man roster of the Curve at this link: You are prominently featured, too! Very positive piece, and well deserved. Worth making an exception if your general rule is to avoid reading such articles.

This article was linked to also by the Post-Gazette PBC blogwriter Dejan Kovacevic.

Hope it’s a warmer day when you get your 1st start than they are forecasting for Wednesday in Erie!

Aso- I am pretty sure that some pf the players lived there last year. Did you have a good time at fan fest?

Brian- Thank you for the heads up on the article. I do usually stay away from stuff like this, but if you say its good I will check it out. It was pretty cold last night, but not nearly as bad as they were forecasting.

Couldn’t stay all that long, had a project due. Sorry for not seeing the Mosk haha. But, can’t wait for the home opener. Just wanting to know what you think of that top of the lineup the Curve have, one added bonus could be that when on the road there is always a very good chance you’ll take the hill with some sort of lead. Keep up the madness.

Well, you have the first appearance out of the way. Congrats on being in Altoona. It looks to be an awesome team and I hope you will join a lot of those players up here some day. In the meantime, enjoy the experience and keep working on the stuff!

Aso- Our lineup is very good. We have a nice balance of power, speed, and contact hitters. I believe they will provide us with some healthy run support. I came in relief tonight just to get a tune up. They didn’t want me to go 8 days without facing hitters. I start on Monday in Akron. And that’s too bad you had to head home early, it was a pretty good time.

Falseaccount- It is definitely nice to get the first one out of the way. Can’t wait to make my first start on Monday. Thanks for your support.
